Phoenix Day Trips // Prescott
Confession: I’ve rented three Airbnb’s in Prescott this past year! I know, I should just buy a cabin there - and some day I will - but there’s something about this old West town that magnetizes me back time and time again.
Where to Stay
“Prescott” pronounced like “biscuit” is best experienced with friends. And the ideal way to visit Prescott is to rent a cabin. We usually split the cost of Airbnb’s. I recommend a rustic cabin, and if you’re brave enough to go off the grid, i especially recommend Juniper Well Ranch. Not only is this cabin off the grid but there’s a farm and hiking on the grounds as well for extra exploration.
Hiking
My favorite place to hike is the Granite Dells by Watson Lake. The scene is just right out of a movie! The hike loops around the entire lake and is only 5 miles. I have yet to complete the whole thing, but i’ve enjoyed bouldering and doing an easy lap following the white dots.
Another easy hike is Thumb Butte Trail, only 2.5 miles but with slight elevation. It’s only a few miles up to the peak, and you get views of the Valley on the way up!
Drinking
I’m a beer lover, and love drinking the Achocolypse beer by Prescott Brewing Co. but if you’re in Prescott you absolutely have to drink mead. Superstition Meadery is one of the top five meaderies in the world, and their Blueberry Spaceship Box is absolutely addictive. It’s an award-winning mead that is a great balance of sweet and stellar. You can also order 12 mead samples at a time, so be prepared to drink merrily before exploring saloons on Whiskey Row!
