Phoenix Day Trips | Little America Hotel Flagstaff

Phoenix Day Trip to Little America HOtel Flagstaff

Tucked away in the Ponderosa Pines, Little America Hotel Flagstaff is the best place to stay and visit when escaping the heat in Phoenix. Only two hours from Phoenix, and an hour away from the Grand Canyon, this special hotel has been a stopping point for travelers since the 1950’s! The lodge is spectacular and absolutely huge. I loved our room! With wooden headboards and views of the forest from our balcony, I immediately felt immersed in nature while having the comforts of home amenities– the perfect escape!

We ate at the hotel’s restaurant for dinner, Silver Pine Restaurant and Bar. With high vaulted ceilings and views of the forest, we already felt welcomed. We ordered the fresh shrimp cocktail as well as the pasta dishes and the Day’s Special, Prime Rib. It all tasted delicious!

Our hotel was a special getaway. There was even a 2.5 mile hike on a pathway right outside our room, and with a heated pool and jacuzzi it was a perfect place to relax after traveling.

Guide to Downtown Flagstaff

The hotel was so close to Downtown Flagstaff that it cost less than a $10 ride share to get there! I went on an unofficial beverage tour of Downtown Flagstaff. First, I went to pick up a Mocha Latte from Late for the Train. They had pretty cool local art at the cafe! Then, I went to Steep Leaf Lounge to have a Match Latte. The lounge specializes in teas and even has seats with pillows you can zen out in. Next, we went to Flagstaff Brewing Company to taste local brews, like the Honey Kolsch, made with local honey! Around the corner, I discovered a local meadery, Drinking Horn Meadery, where we got a sampler of sweet meads. Finally, we finished at Collins Irish Pub and drank what all the college kids were drinking - Irish Trash Cans. It was an awesome escape in Flagstaff, and I can’t wait to go back!
