Review // Harumi Sushi

Food, like so many things in life, is arbitrary, left to each individual’s tastes to determine if a dish or a restaurant is delicious or not. But when I’m often asked the question, ‘Which restaurant do you recommend for sushi?’ Without a doubt, I recommend Harumi Sushi.

Recently moved across the street and renovated, the new location on 1st and Adams in Downtown Phoenix, has transformed from a hole-in-the-wall-secret to one of the trendiest restaurants downtown. Harumi Sushi has been my go-to sushi spot for years, and their tried and true secrets to being a fan favorite still holds true today in timeless fashion.

First, the quality of fish that Harumi Sushi uses is incredible. When we came in, they had fish flown in that morning from Tahiti, Nova Scotia, and Scotland! You can taste how fresh and tender each piece is, and it makes all the difference in each of their dishes, likes the Sashimi Appetizer or Ahi Tuna Tower.

Second, Harumi Sushi is known for their signature purple rice in their sushi rolls, this purple rice contains more anti-oxidants than regular rice, and tastes even more amazing. Pair a roll of sushi with Sapporo sake bombs or a lovely Matcha cocktail,  and you’re pretty much good to go!

Finally, their Oh My God roll is experiential! It will literally make you exclaim, ‘Oh My God’. The staff arrives at your table with a roll in tin foil, and lights the whole thing on fire! This makes the roll melt-in-your-mouth delicious!

Ultimately, Harumi Sushi has earned their reputation on quality ingredients, cool experiences, and a warm, loving staff. I come back again and again, whether it’s for Girls’ Night Out or Date Night!
