Event // Hot Bamboo
What's a food so cute, it breaks your heart to eat it? Hot Bamboo's character buns! Food festival, fan favorite, Hot Bamboo has finally opened a storefront in Chandler, and The She Moves PHX team attended their media night to help celebrate.
Walk into the cozy Chandler storefront of Hot Bamboo and be immediately greeted with a smile from owners Anna Heinbach and her son Preston. The colorful walls were painted by Anna herself, who used to be a former artist before delving into the restaurant world. That night we ate light Asian bites including shumai and pot-stickers, and had a bright, diverse array of bubble teas and toppings to choose from. Hot Bamboo had popping boba in their green teas as well as creamy delicious Thai teas, too.
And of course, the character buns. While everyone has a spirit animal, it's my belief they must have a spirit bao bun, too! Mine is the Angry Birds one, because I am passionate and aggressive. But the one that stole the show was definitely Baby Yoda! (If you don't watch The Mandalorian, I really have to ask- do you live under a rock?) Anna told me she even makes her teriyaki sauce from scratch, and has gallons of the delicious sauce stacked away. While you don't have to douse your character buns in her sauce, it definitely adds an extra punch to the already addictive bao buns.
For dessert we had a demonstration for the butterfly tea - a rainbow drink that changes colors and tastes amazing! We also had bubble waffles and ice cream, too, which completed the Asian masterpiece of a meal. We had a blast seeing old friends and new, and getting to know the sweet owners better. The store is officially open on January 10th to the public with the Grand Opening on February 1st. Hot Bamboo is located at 980 E. Pecos Road, Ste 4, Chandler AZ, 85226.
