Review // Humble Pie
Everything at Humble Pie is “Not So” Humble at all, just take a peek at their menu. The kitchen is led by Jorge Gomez, who has previously worked at fan favorite restaurants, Ladera, The Vig, and LGO. Bringing his experiences to Humble Pie during COVID meant not sacrificing flavor or quality ingredients, while other competitors have. The result? Innovative techniques and experimental dishes that are refreshing for the palette and exciting for average taste buds.
Start your meal with the Humble Caesar. This ‘ordinary’ salad is dressed up in jalapeno caesar, crispy brussel leaves, and mixed with the creaminess of an egg, and truthfully, it’s simply the best version of a take on a classic. Or, if you’re more carnivorous, try the Humble Wings in Spicy Korean sauce. The wings are fried twice for extra crispiness, and are tender and easy to pull apart.
And how are the pizzas? Inspired by Neopolitan-pizza, but not quite following the traditions, the dough is prepared 36-hours in advance to deliver a light, airy texture. The Truffled & Wild includes several different, plump mushrooms and has cheese imported from Italy as well as truffle oil and lemon zest. The Sweet & Feisty is a modern approach to Hawaiian-style pizza, and includes spicy capicola, pepperoni, and jalapeno drizzled with spicy, chili honey. Both pizzas are artisanal and possess depth - giving eaters a unique tasting experience with new mixtures in ingredients.
And the menu doesn’t stop there. The Humble Dip includes tasty carnitas and an au jus that’s made from the juices of those same carnitas. The Humble Burger takes on new levels of flavor with candied bacon and a mix of ground beef and chuck in the patty. And don’t forget dessert. The Churros Dulce de Leche comes with ice cream that’s made from condensed milk, and the Baked Cookie Sundae has a cookie so soft that it will bring you back to childhood memories.
Whatever you order at Humble Pie is guaranteed to awaken your senses and satisfy your cravings, especially for the more adventurous eaters. They’re opening up at a new Desert Ridge location, and we can’t wait to get more Humble Pie.
